![Event: Emerge + Paul Fisher: Remodeled
Glamour, models and drama, OH MY! On Wednesday, February 1stEmerge Talent of Orlando hosted an invitation-only viewing party for the reality series Remodeled, and BRINK went behind the scenes. Check out our full photo gallery from the event here.
As we arrived to a packed house at the Abbey in Downtown Orlando, Florida, we were immersed into a sea of purple. The theme of the night was purple in honor of the Purple Clip highlighting Paul Fisher’s distaste for the purple office at Emerge Talent. The room was filled with fashionably-attired models and business people.
We were ecstatic to find Annelise Adams of Sarasota, Florida. Annelise modeled in BRINK’s Uncapped fashion show last year. Annelise was the highlight of the first of two Emerge episodes on Remodeled. She stated that she was nervous at first but then got used to the cameras quickly. The cameras followed her around to several castings in New York and Los Angeles. She told us how it was awkward to have a camera in her face for the emotional moments, but that is what makes it real.
The owner of Emerge Talent, Holly, looked refreshingly sassy in pinstripe shorts and a purple halter-top. She pulled it all together with a headband embellished with purple feathers.
Even though she was busy with friends and guests pulling her attention, she took a moment to speak with us about Remolded.
Holly was born and raised in ‘the business’ making her an expert in her craft. She started her career in New York where she met The Network Talent’s one and only Paul Fisher. After years of knowing each other, they came together for this revolutionary project: Remolded on the CW. The process began with Emerge Talent taping the pilot about a year ago. When asked about the suspense of waiting for the reveal to finally arrive, Holly commented, “it does not seem real until you see it on your DVR and hit record.”
I asked Holly if it was hard to have someone come into your business and take over. She stated how it is an adjustment because they operate differently, however she was open to Paul Fisher helping out for the better of the business.
Not too long after meeting Holly, Paul Fisher entered the room with two gorgeous models at his side. Paul was dressed in a black (no purple to be found), well-tailored suit. He was approachable, energetic and quite a character to say the least. He too was kind enough to step away from the crowd and talk with us at BRINK.
Paul Fisher explained how he started in the business. He was 21, and he and some college peers at the University of California in Santa Barbara came up with the ultimate idea to meet girls – a modeling agency. After falling in love with the ability to transform a young girl into a top model, he had agencies across the country. However, being that he was in the business for the wrong reasons, his venture failed. With the help of a $10,000 loan from his grandfather, he was given a second chance.
Paul Fisher began to introduce top models to the industry again by booking Vogue covers and Guess campaigns. Paul explained, “then I thought I was God!” He was soon brought back to reality when his sister was diagnosed with cancer. As her disease became tragic, he took time off to care for her. Paul recalls bathing his sick sister and receiving a call from some of his models questioning their decreased pay from $75,000 to $50,000 a year. And within 24 hours, he closed all of his agencies.
After nine years of soul-searching, Paul found his faith in Kabbalah. Kabbalah brought Paul back to the business in a new light. He now creates role models and uses his agency to revolutionize the image of true beauty.
I asked Paul if he would give aspiring models tips about entering into the business, and he responded quickly, “don’t become a model, and run away from guys like me [referring to who he used to be], but if you still want to become a model, [then] win, be great and give back to the community until it hurts.”
Remodeled can be seen Wednesday nights at 9pm on The CW.
